Our timeless, classic calendar is here! The 2025 calendar features Charlie’s beloved images of Native American daily life. Before his fame, Charlie Russell would make ends meet as an illustrator. Sketching and painting scenes from his favorite books, he became very adept at capturing the soul of the written word. This love for literature continued into his artistic career, and combines with his respect for Native Americans’ he began to paint their folklore and traditions.
The cover image is a fan favorite! The Kindergarten, depicts a Native American elder teaching several children of this history by using a painted bison robe. To accurately depict scenes like this, Russell would stage the inside of his teepee so that his art would authentically represent the Native American cultures he admired and respected. *The Kindergarten 1890, oil on canvas – on loan from the Petrie Collection L2022.5.1
