Bob Thoroughman was another of Charlie’s best friends. A top bronc rider and seasoned plainsman, this was Russell’s take on the home his grandparents built over in Chestnut valley near the Missouri river. It was Joe and Effie Thoroughman, Bob’s parents, who were staying in the Russell house on 4th avenue north the night Charlie passed away.
