2015 Art in Action® ParticipantsJohn C. Gawne, the 2007 C.M. Russell Museum Auction CEO Award winner, has participated in the C.M. Russell Museum auction since 1995. Painting since the early 1990s, he is represented in numerous galleries and has been a participant in the Buffalo Bill Art Show, Settlers West Miniature Show, and Coeur d’Alene Miniature Show.R. Tom Gilleon is a memberof the Russell Skull Society of Artists. In 2013, the C.M. Russell Museum featured Gilleon’s one-man retrospective exhibition, Let Icons Be Icons. Earlier that year, his painting Hair Apparent set a new record for highest sale price by a living artist. Gilleon believes “simplicity and strength are the keys to fine art. Light, color, value, composition, and line are paramount in importance.”Carol Hagan is a self-taught artist from Billings, MT. Her paintings are contemporary expressions of her love for horses, the stunning landscapes of the American West, and the multitude of wildlife species that make it their home. Her work is represented in fine galleries in Montana, Wyoming, and Arizona. Hagan is extremely honored to be a member of the Russell Skull Society of Artists.Colt Idol was born and raised in northwest Montana. After participating in collegiate athletics, he pursued a career in art with the guidance of his father. His work is shown at several galleries, including the family-owned Dick Idol Signature Gallery. He has been painting for four years and now lives in Whitefish, where he is able to enjoy the Rocky Mountains and the Flathead Valley daily.Jennifer Johnson paints subjects from her life’s experiences outdoors asa photographer/plein air artist. Her medium is oil on linen using both heavy and light stroke work. Johnson has been in prestigious shows including the OPA Western Regional, C.M. Russell, Coeur d’Alene Miniature Show, The Western Masters, Wildlife Museum, Scottsdale Salon, Greeley Stampede, and Salon International. Southwest Art magazine’s “Artist to Watch,” Johnson has also been featured in Western and American Art Collector.Greg Kelsey's sculpture revealshis intensity for both form and subject. No matter what the subject, he believes that form is the most significant thing about a sculpture. He finds it powerful when form and subject are both meaningful. Kelsey is a member of the Russell Skull Society of Artists.Lee Kromschroeder’s work is published by Wild Wings in Lake City, MN. He has emerged as one of the most recognized and celebrated new artists of the wildlife genre. He is represented in some of the finest galleries, and his work is found in many private collections. He has always pushed the boundaries of art. He is never afraid to try new and controversial approaches to art, and is a constant student of the Old World masters.Joe Kronenberg is a self-taught artist working in oils. He has studied and been influenced by techniques of the nineteenth-century classical realists’ styles, which are evident in the Old World feel his wildlife paintings take on. He was the 2009 recipient of the Charlie Russell Museum Auction’s Ralph “Tuffy” Berg Award. He was a finalist in the Art Renewal Center’s 2011 and 2014 International Salon and has received numerous additional best of show and people’s choice awards.
