Lot 8—W.H.D. KOERNER—Indians Attacking Stagecoach (cont.)
In his rendition of a similar composition to two others (the one by Remington and the other by Russell), W.H.D. Koerner, has achieved much of the same effect as McCracken credits to Remington’s treatment. Nevertheless, he skillfully develops an appropriately differentiated perspective on the event portrayed. This undoubtedly accounts for much of the unusually wide exhibition history for Koerner’s piece.
