Welcome to e Russell ! e Russell: An Exhibition and Sale to Bene t the C.M. Russell Museum attracts thousands of visitors to its month-long exhibition and three-day event held each year around Charles Marion Russell’s birthday on March 19. For 47 years, collectors, artists, and Western art enthusiasts have descended on Great Falls, Montana, to celebrate and honor the legacy of C.M. Russell. e Russell Exhibition and Sale is one of the leading Western art auctions in the world and the premier fund-raising event for the museum. e C.M. Russell Museum is one of the nation’s nest museums of American Western art and the home of the most complete collection of Russell art and memorabilia in the world. e permanent collection of more than 12,000 objects includes the works of such well-known artists as O. C. Seltzer, Winold Reiss, J.H. Sharp, E. E. Heikka, E. I. Couse, Olaf Wieghorst, Henry Farny, and Frank Tenney Johnson. e Browning Firearms Collection and e Bison: American Icon, Heart of Plains Indian Culture round out the museum’s outstanding o erings.In 1953, the C.M. Russell Museum opened in a single small gallery housing the personal Russell collection ofJosephine Trigg, a close friend and neighbor of the Russell family. e museum subsequently underwent expansions in 1969, 1985, and 2001 to reach its current capacity of approximately 70,000 square feet. e museum campus now occupies a full city block that includes Charles M. Russell’s home and log studio, which together were designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965.Pepsi Cola of Great Falls is proud to share the splendor of Western art with the community and region during Pepsi Free Admission Week, March 13–20, 2016. All art at auction for First Strike Friday Night and e Russell Live Auction will be on exhibit beginning mid-February. Families are encouraged to visit the museum on Sunday, March 13, for Pepsi Family Day. In addition to free admission, crafts and activities will be available for the whole family to enjoy. e mission of the C.M. Russell Museum is to collect, preserve, research, interpret, and educate on the art and life of Charles M. Russell; the art and lives of his contemporaries; and the art of preceding and ensuing generations that depicts and focuses on the culture, life, and country of Russell’s West.
