The C.M. Russell Museum has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that inspires people to work together to improve their local communities by donating money, time and more to the charities and causes they love. #GivingTuesday has held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – this year it falls on November 28. Consider it a way to embrace the spirit of the holidays and the giving season with a welcome break from the chaotic Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping events!
Charlie Russell loved giving, holiday traditions and was much more than a cowboy artist. His name conjures up the very best of the American West and Western art in that we know the heart of the man was every bit as revered as his inspired work. Charlie knew what it meant to #GetWestern. He embodied the Western values that are needed in today’s complex world – hard work, humility, creativity, humor, inclusiveness, and authenticity.
For #GivingTuesday we hope as a museum donor you will share your Russell story with the hashtag #GetWestern. Let’s show people what it means to be filled with the spirit of the American West.

#GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. It inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they believe in, and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts, and that they mean even more when we give together.
