Statesmanship
SENATOR ALAN SIMPSON
Statesmanship
Senator Simpson has dedicated decades to exemplifying Western values in his career, first as a representative in the Wyoming House of Representatives and then as a U.S. Senator. Since then, his ongoing devotion to fiscal and social issues as well as university- level teaching have kept him relevant in the changing physical and political landscape. Senator Simpson shares Russell’s cowboy traits of honesty, integrity, and no-nonsense rhetoric. The Senator’s statements have become legendary: “If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don’t have integrity, nothing else matters.” These words could well have been spoken by Charlie himself. The C.M. Russell Museum is proud to honor Senator Simpson for his lifelong commitment to serving our country and for his deep love and respect for the West and its values.
Artistic Achievement
WILLIAM MATTHEWS

Matthews paints to capture a moment that inspires the imagination and leaves the observer changed. The C.M. Russell Museum is proud to honor William Matthews for his lifelong dedication to depicting the varied images of the West in his original watercolors.
