FRANK HAGEL Switchback
oil
24 x 36 inches
$15,000–17,500
In 1969, Frank Hagel participated in the first C.M. Russell Auction of Original Western Art at the original Rainbow Hotel venue in downtown Great Falls. The Kalispell native then missed the 1970 event while preparing to move back to Montana from Detroit, Michigan. Since then, Hagel has been juried into each and every sale to benefit the C.M. Russell Museum. With 2019 marking a total of fifty years of Frank Hagel’s participation, the C.M. Russell Museum is proud to recognize and thank him for over a half century of unwavering and generous support. Hagel celebrates that history through Switchback, which depicts the artist himself from coming down switchbacks of Lion Creek Pass in the Bob Marshall following a successful hunt fifty years ago.
