In 1919, when Charlie Russell was asked by a friend for artistic advice, Charlie replied, “Cinch your saddle on romance.” On the occasion of my thirtieth year of participating in the Russell Art Show and Auction, I wanted to pay homage to this icon of Western art, to whom we all admire and feel such a spiritual a liation. e eld study included in this o ering is the one I was working on during the lming of the upcoming Montana PBS documentary, CM Russell and the American West.
