Charles M. Russell was the inspiration for the Russell Skull Society of Artists. Russell was a great technician and dedicated craftsman. He relished and nurtured his friendships and relationships with collectors. He had a generous spirit.
His art re ected his love of the West and his dedication to preserving it. ese characteristics and talents launched Russell to international acclaim. ese same traits formed the criteria for membership in the Russell Skull Society of Artists: the artists’ history of support and commitment to the mission of the C.M. Russell Museum; their accomplishments as demonstrated by awards and exhibits; and the strength and history of the artists’ sales in e Russell.
