According to Larry Len Peterson in Charles M. Russell: Legacy:Dude ranch brochures were circulated, mainly back East, to attract summer vacationers to the West. Russell was a natural choice to illustrate these advertising brochures since his name and art were synonymous with the West.  e Park Saddle Horse Company, for example, worked with the Great Northern Railway and Glacier National Park, taking dudes o  the train and into the park on horseback.
