207 GREG KELSEY Sundance and the Wild Bunch Hit the Union Pacific bronze 44 x 24 x 26 inches One of seven numbered casts$25,000–30,000“Andy and I wanted to team up and do something special for The Russell. We thought we would bring our two mediums together with the same subject. We began discussing the idea over two years ago at an artist workshop we do at Triple Creek Ranch – the place lends itself to creative thoughts. The idea evolved at The Russell last year where we fanned it over a drink or two. We knew we wanted a historical subject. The dynamic tale of Sundance and the Wild Bunch robbing the Union Pacific started to grow. The history was close tous both. Andy is well-known for his Old West and six gun pieces as well as his historical research. I live in the old stomping grounds of the Wild Bunch, our neighborhood of the Four Corners was a known hide out and a friend of mine owned the property where “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” was filmed for the Hollywood movie. It was the perfect material for our collaboration. Two artists; two mediums; one great subject.”—Greg Kelsey
